Countdown Begins: IWF Unveils Confirmed Athletes' List for Paris 2024 Olympics

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has officially released the highly anticipated list of athletes set to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics. This announcement marks a significant milestone in the journey towards the Games, as weightlifters from around the world eagerly await their chance to showcase their skills on the Olympic stage.

The list comprises a total of 122 lifters, including 120 athletes who successfully completed the rigorous qualification process. These athletes had to participate in a minimum number of IWF events, with particular emphasis on the 2023 IWF World Championships and the 2024 IWF World Cup. Another 10 athletes were chosen based on continental representation, ensuring a diverse range of nations will be represented in the competition.

In addition to the qualified athletes, the IOC Refugee Team will also be fielding two lifters, bringing the total number of competing nations to 58. This demonstrates the IWF's commitment to promoting inclusivity and providing opportunities for athletes from all backgrounds to participate in the Olympics.

The weightlifting competition, scheduled to take place from August 7th to 11th, will feature 10 Olympic bodyweight categories. Each category will consist of 12 lifters, except for the men's 102kg and women's 81kg categories, which will have 13 athletes, including one refugee.
