Wu Yanni Wins Women's 60m Hurdles Championship at Chinese National Indoor Championships

The three-day 2024 Chinese National Indoor Athletics Championships concluded on March 31st, with Sichuan athlete Wu Yanni claiming the women's 60m hurdles title on March 29th. Wu set a new personal best twice during the event, clocking 8.06 seconds to secure the championship and break her own record.

Chen Yinfeng from the Yunnan team and Chen Jiamin from the Henan team took second and third place, respectively. In the women's 60m hurdles final, Wu Yanni ran an impressive 8.06 seconds, not only securing her second indoor title of the season but also surpassing Japan's Yuumi Tanaka's 8.09 seconds, setting the best Asian indoor women's 60m hurdles time of the season.

Furthermore, Wu Yanni surpassed Lin Yuwei's domestic record of 8.08 seconds set last year. Chen Yinfeng from Yunnan also achieved a personal best, finishing second with a time of 8.17 seconds. Chen Jiamin from Henan claimed third place with a season-best time of 8.21 seconds.

After the race, Wu Yanni expressed that based on her past experience, she expects her performance to be even better in the second half of the year. Despite making breakthroughs during the indoor season, she acknowledges that there is still room for improvement. She hopes to continue pushing herself to achieve new personal bests in the outdoor 100m hurdles event.
